More Yarn?

Yes, more yarn. There can never be too much yarn. I got this from www.smileysyarns.com. It's Paton's Bumble Bee Baby Cotton. 100% cotton 123yds and 22sts = 4". I bought 5 each in Petunia, Morning Glory, Apple Blossom, Blue Bell, Sweet Grass and Daffodil. .99 cents a piece. Thats right. .99 cents. Of course the shipping cost was high but still it averages out to like $1.20 per skein. Not bad.
So now I need a project. Any ideas?

I think she had a good day, we opened presents, baked cake, opened more presents, ate at ol' McDonalds....the only downer was the fact that we both have a head cold. Today we are doing better and I'm especially happy because I also got a present yesterday. I LOOOOOVE this book. It is just as brilliant as I thought it would be and it was worth the wait (I ordered it in May I think!). So now I have all these brilliant patterns and I must choose...hmmm. I'll have to post pictures as I narrow the candidates down. I re-started the neck-tie and things are going very zen-like so far. I don't think it should take long to finish.
In other news, school starts in one more week. OIY! I'm still waiting for a language arts schedule from Sonlight. I got my K math program and there are only 112 lessons (that includes 14 tests) for the whole year! That means like, 3 math lessons a week! I guess that is allright I mean heck, I would have loved not to deal with math 5 days a week when I was in school. Maya is so funny, its like she is skeptical that there is any school at all. Almost every day she asks,"is today a school day?" And she's been asking that for like, 6 months now. I hope our school days don't come as a shock for her. We are so relaxed at home that a school schedule may be more structure than she is used to!

Has she knit anything lately?, you may wonder....
Why yes, I have been knitting thank you. Almost every day as a matter of fact. I've been working on something that is a gift for a very special young man. And now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go and frog it....
You see I'm knitting a tie for a friend and I didn't check my gauge. As you may have guessed, Its about 1 1/2" too wide. Unless he wants to look like a clown, I think I'll have to start all over. Have I mentioned that I'M SICK OF FRIGGIN' FROGGING MY WORK!!!!!!! We are past the "theraputic" stage of the ripping out process. I am sick of it and will be happy if I never have to do it again. But on the upside, isn't the Koigu beautiful?

Wellllll, like many other people around the world yesterday, I was reading the new Harry Potter book. It was great! I loved it and as usual, was a little sad at the end and frustrated that another long wait is ahead for the next part of the story to be told. Cheers to J.K Rowling! Of course, there is always more material to cover: after one book ends, another begins. I bought Krishnamurti's Freedom From The Known along with Harry Potter, happy to finally get my hands on one of his books. I've only read about five paragraphs so far but it is brilliant I tell you. I mean, he really isn't saying anything new, but he is pointing it out in such a way that....well..you'll just have to read it. I'm always up for things that question authority and tradition. My husband...well..not so much. I began reading aloud to him and he stopped me. He said it was making him angry and that he was wrong; making false statements. I admit I didn't get annoyed because I can sympathize. I often feel angry/frustrated the minute he cracks open that Book Of Mormon and starts reading aloud to me. GRRRRRR....
Honestly, one can only wonder why he would be angry, being someone who was born into a very Mormon family, when he hears that we are "second hand people" because we've become something someone else told us we should be and believe things that others have told us we should believe and we do this because we have no real personal experience of the thing we are seeking, nor do we strive for one?!! And why would I, someone who believes God gave us reason and common sense for a reason, want to hear passages from a book that is the basis of a faith that I no longer wish to participate in??! Sigh...

After weeks of grueling research, shopping and planning here it is....my very own Schedule for Maya's Kindergarten year at home. It may not look like much, and this is only week one of 36 weeks of the school year but it is DONE. I will print out week by week as the year progresses in case I get behind in any area. I guess I'll have to keep these for some sort of portfolio to submit if the School District asks for them. There is a master schedule with all assignments in it that I'm drawing from. It seems like its taken FOREVER to get this done but now it is. I'm only expecting four more books in the mail. SSsshhhhh, don't tell Mike. He's sick of me buying books....oh well, he'll get over it! It is our daughters education for crying out loud!

baby sweater #1
Originally uploaded by samuraisqurl.
Finally. I have knitted something from beginning to end. Well, almost to end. I need buttons for this sweater and then I'm done. At first I was a little worried about the dark grey yarn, but as time passed I figured that I could spruce it up with some cute baby boy type buttons. Really, would you mind getting a baby sweater in this color? I wouldn't have. I also think my choice was influenced by the intense anti-baby-pastels-acrylic yarn sentiment that has been haunting my knitting for months now. It is sport weight Wool-Ease and I bought this jumbo skein at Jo-Ann's for $3.00. On to baby project #2...a blanket. I've got momentum going, why stop now?
